Experimenting with the set up of the piece
Experiments in melting plastic using an oven, this became part of my making process, although it is very hazardous to health so I do not recommend anyone doing it!
'Plague' (2013)
After having a tutorial with Paul Johnson about my work, he encouraged me to experiment with setting objects on fire and seeing how they meld together and what shapes they would form. I'm not going to say no to playing with fire!
This is the (uncropped) photo that I submitted for the 'There's No Place Like Home' exhibition
I began experimenting with using my heat gun and blowtorch on different materials. One of the most interesting reactions was with using polystyrene. It created a slimy effect, creating holes and shapes resembling caves and craters.
This an idea I may come back to at a later time when I've made peace with it and stopped feeling so fed up with it. I spent about 7 or 8 hours cutting up and melting plastic bottles together. Plastic bottles misshapen very easily with strong heat and there is no controlling what shape it will take on. I used this to connect the plastic bottles together. Frustrating time consuming comes to mind!

MAKING MY FINAL DEGREE SHOW PIECE - '...And On The 7th Day, God Created Suffering'
It's difficult to show everything that went in to preparing for the final piece. I could probably make a whole new blog dedicated to it (hmmmm, now there's an idea!). For more info about the piece, please see the information given for the piece on the 'Exhibitions' page.
This is how the piece was constructed for marking. Afterwards, I had to move the piece to another part of the studio as it didn't work well with the other pieces in the space.
These are all the materials that made up the work.
